Theres an Australian youtuber called "Wheels By The Ocean" whos taken one of these GWM Cannon Utes all over Australia towing their 3Ton Caravan, the car seems very reliable from what they've experienced, definitely a good watch

from what i have seen, read in facebook groups etc. and from my own experience owing one. I have the feeling they are actually one of the most reliable dual cab utes on the market at the moment. definetly more reliable than the ranger. And although yes it would be nice to have more power, it still gets the job done just fine with its current powerplant in my experience. I have never felt like it needs to accelerate any faster while driving normally around town etc. its not designed to be a race car. I towed a caravan around australia, and i had no issues at all. Its just that as humans we always expect more and more power, we can never be content with what we have. When you say it needs more power, you also need to clarify why. For instance you can ask, Can it climb a hill offroad with its current power - Yes. Can it drive along the road anywhere at the posted speed limit - Yes. Can it tow 3000kg at highway speeds - Yes. Does it have good fuel economy because of its smaller engine - yes. So the needing more power is only based on your specific requirements for the vehicle. for instance, if you ask, do you need to accelerate to 100 in less than 10 seconds for whatever reason? And the answer is yes, then you will need more power. If you know what i mean. Its all about what you need it to do, and can it do it.

If you get your hands on one of these again, regarding the “traction control issue”, hold down the traction control button for 5-7seconds and it activates a “expert cross country mode”
This disables all driving assists.
It is on the original Cannon models so assuming it would be on this variant as well.
Love my Cannon

You get a lot of negative comments about Japanese utes being so much better etc etc. We have 2 Cannons, 2 Isuzu DMAX single cabs and a DMax Double cab. The 2 GWMs have not had 1 single issue while the Dmaxs had a few small problems already.

All our vehicles work hard. These Cannons are not better than Japanese utes but they don't seem to be worse in any way in our experience.... Just way cheaper to own

Great news guys. They decided in China to put out version with a 2.4T diesel+ 9AT. Just ordered mine last week. I will report back.

I have a Cannon X and was rather embarrassed to drive it at the start but after it being so reliable and impressive I’m quite proud of it. Sports mode helps with the lag considerably.

I have the Cannon X late 2022, two things that drove me mad was no drivers side grab handle and no ceiling courtesy light, I see they have addressed both issues, I bought a genuine pillar grab handle from Savage Tech which was a perfect match and I use it every time getting in and out of the cannon as I have a two inch lift kit, I am looking into tapping into the delayed foot well lighting circuit to power two side mounted lights in the back that will go out once the doors are closed in time with the foot well lights.
I am seriously impressed with the tech and overall finish of the vehicle, I tow a 18'8 caravan as well as a two ton work trailer, this thing pulls like a school boy.

Just got the 2023 GWM Vanta and I’m loving the vehicle, beautiful interior and exterior design, enough power to get the job done and extra features for the price

Have had a cannon x for 2 years and had a proper wheel alignment done ( thanks to the lady team at Beaurepairs Norlunga South Australia, and it instantly made the lane control work properly. No cambers over there, here they are, so easy fix. A great around cheap to operate, 4 disc brakes standard etc and a 7 yer all inclusive warranty. The new one looks nice but I’ll keep the red one I have. Love your opinions fella✌️

Im interstate for work at the moment and have been driving around Canberra in my workmates 2024 Cannon Vanta. Ive always said Id never buy a Chinese car but Im impressed. I think it represents exceptional value for money. It looks decent. Interior good and seats look nice with the plait stitching. Im seriously thinking of buying one.

Great review, got my XSR about 6 weeks ago, we’ll see how it stacks up over the next 5 years, as for the 12V button on the roof, that controls an anderson plug under the bonnet.

I really like the use of the durometer! My favorite show on t.v. in part because of their testing regiment, and that test is a valuable test that in 40 + years they never thought to do, and it's a super cool, and very useful bit of testing right there.

test drove this and was really impressed on it's offroad comfort. a little bit spikey response on the turbo cause of it's smaller engine, I also don't like the shifter design. But overall, for the price, this is a good deal. That's it if there are parts and nothing will disintegrate after warranty expires.

I am rather impressed with the what it offers for the price. Does most of what you need in Aus. Overtaking with a van would be an issue if not planned correctly. But otherwise seams like "bang for buck" to me.
