Here is my solution of the classic 2016 Rotational Mechanics JEE Advanced Question for the entrance exams to the IIT in India. Probably the toughest question to appear on the JEE Advanced. This is India's hardest exams and probably one of the hardest in the world.
Also note that these are not official solutions and if you spot a mistake, please leave a comment.
This is an excellent question on Rotational Mechanics, involving angular momentum, moment of inertia, angular speed and more obscure concepts such as spin and orbital angular momentum.
It is exceptionally hard and hence excellent revision for JEE Aspirants looking for extra practice.
I hope this video is useful!
This video is excellent preparation for physics olympiads, JEE Advanced, JEE Main, and even excellent practice for university courses in engineering and physics.

So what question should I try next? 😀 P.S. I am already working on a modification of this question. I think it's time to introduce an initial push and a frictional force into the dynamics of the system.

Note: JEE ADVANCED is given by high school students at 17 year age

Everytime i see this question, brings back memories of JEE16. I felt the physics paper was very tough, i couldn't clear JEE Adv that year but I did it the following year. Try and try again, a little motivation for future aspirants.

i love how u explain ur thinking process while solving the ques. many teachers online dont do that

Another thing about this question is that you can't randomly jump on options to check them, have to go in sequence.

I gave my JEE in 2002, when we had just one exam, called IIT JEE. I had cleared the prelims. As a candidate from Kerala, where we didn't have dedicated IIT specific coaching, I was at a significant disadvantage to other well prepared candidates, where candidates often start their preps when they are 13 or so. The exam was so tough and questions so incomprehensible, I even slept through the physics portion of the exam, only for the examiner to wake me up. I've never felt so ill prepared and inadequate ever in my life, while giving an exam, a memory that still lives with me. The direct sunlight in my direction, oppressive heat in that classroom and my father coolly brushing my experience without even a hint of anger, those are memories of a life time.

No formula sheet, log table, calculator or anything you can think of, we just have a piece of paper. 17/18 year olds take this test. Also you should be able to solve such questions around in 3 min to even hope to try all of them.

Actually this is not the toughest question bits actually really hyped question

The main thing about this questions is that angular velocity vectors and its components and instantaneous axis of rotn

Jee has asked tougher question on fluid mechanics and electrodynamics you can have a look on them

Yup we do have to memorise moment of inertia of rods from end hinge, mid hinge, discs, rings, cylinders

I love the way you actually solve it step- wise and paying attention to smallest of details… my teachers think I’m Einstein listening to their guest lecture

This question is hyped so much jee adavance questions on fluids are bit difficult than this one tbh

As a doctor who left physics 10 years ago, it made little sense to me. Idk why I watched the full video. 😂😂
