In this video, Dr Nargesh Agrawal, Consultant of Paediatric Orthopaedic & Deformity Correction at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Shalimar Bagh explains what Clubfoot is and what are its symptoms, causes, treatment and methods of diagnosis. Clubfoot is a deformity in which the foot is twisted out of shape or position. The most common cause of this deformity is not enough amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby in the womb. The treatment of clubfoot usually begins in the first week or two after birth. It can be corrected with modern plaster technique which requires less number of plasters as compared to the traditional method. A minor day-care surgical procedure is performed if the condition is severe or doesn't respond to nonsurgical treatments. Here, Dr Nargesh suggests that the treatment of the clubfoot should start as early as possible because if the treatment begins early, the result gets better.
