$499,000 in Dental Student Loans, would I be able to pay it off?

We discuss a DentalTown post of different pays to pay off your dental student loan:

Never thought I would see this day. After 10 years I finally qualified and received public service loan forgiveness for the remaining balance of my dental school loans today. Because of the ridiculous fixed interest rate of 8% the balance has ballooned to $499,000 since I graduated. To anyone else following the PSLF path hang in there."

One thing that wasn't mentioned. I was listening to a podcast that spoke of this and a number of dentists were 5 to 6 years into this 10 year payoff plan and they got a letter from the government that basically said, after further review, we have decided that the place that you have been working at Now does not qualify for the Payment program. They REALLY were devastated, so there is no guarantee that you will get anything paid off by the government as they can move the goalposts at any time.
