The Story of the Rosary places the History of the Rosary from the 13th Century when the Mother of God gave to St Dominic the prayer that would help and eventually succeed in bringing back those who were mislead by error.

The use of beads dates back to the early Church.

The Rosary is a meditation on the life of Jesus as found in the Scriptures.

All the mysteries are founded in Scripture.

The Rosary is both a vocal and mental meditation form of prayer.

The feast of the Holy Rosary is October 7.

I'm trying to learn French and thus I tried to read a book called 'Le Rosaire'. The author said that the 14th and the 15th Mysteries are simaliar. The book related that before 1450 approx- The Day of Judgement was the 15th Mystery.
The author is right. The 14th and the 15th mysteries...- of The Virgin Mary 91) Ascending into Heaven and (2) been seen with 12 stars etc -... are similiar.

Rosary was made for repetition of prayer, What does Jesus Christ told His disciples bout repetition of prayer? Gentiles, Catholic church are practicing tradition.

In the time of St. Dominic, the HAIL MARY did not exist as we pray it today. Only the first half of it was then used. The word JESUS was not added until the 14th century, and the second half of the prayer came later still. The OUR FATHER and the GLORY BE were not then part of the Rosary. The Mysteries of the Rosary were not fixed as they are now. Even in the 15th century in the time of ALAN DE RUPE, O.P., who was responsible for the revival of the Rosary devotion 250 years after the time of St. Dominic, the Rosary he preached was the Marian Psalter of 150 Hail Marys and 150 mysteries. Yes, 150 mysteries! The fifteen mysteries in use today were not officially established until Pope Pius V in 1569. There was no pendant (the cross and five extra beads) as we have now.

Who decided to make the psalter ( 150 Hail Mary’s) into 5 decades 50 Hail Mary’s and calling that… The Rosary?? Was it decided in a Council? A Pope? Also, just out of curiosity, praying the rosary without mentioning the reflections at each decade - is it still a valid rosary? Our Lady didn’t mention the reflections at each decade, she just asked us to pray the psalter - 150 Hail Mary’s. I don’t know.

In the Bible it says something about “ repetitious prayers” …. The Rosary is repetitious
