In my Roth IRA, I own VTI and BND. In my other brokerage, I’m 100% VT. VT (60% North American companies, 15% European companies, 10% Pacific companies, 10% emerging markets) is the top dog. In my opinion, VT is enough. Very well-diverse.

Wouldn’t you switch VTI to VTSAX after 10, 000? Would that have changed your numbers?

Would you hold VOO in a taxable dividend portfolio and in a Roth? Or only keep it in one or the other?

A lot of recency bias in this. Out performance over past decade by US is even more reason someone should go with global index. Odds of domestic underperformance is higher.

You chose a very biased time frame for your analysis

I agree that VT is a mediocre choice. I would never own it. Fun fact though. The 22+ years I held both VOO and a Russell 2000 US small cap fund, The small caps outperformed VOO by a few percent, with lower maximum drawdown than VOO. The last part surprised me. From day to day the small cap fund was usually at least a bit more volatile. At least 60% of days probably.
