Wow 2016? Seems like yesterday! I remember working in retail, in the mobile department specifically. Everyone wanted the iPhone 7 Plus or even the regular 7. I always wanted an iPhone 7 Plus but never got it. I currently have an iPhone X tho, but the iPhone 7+/8+ overall design is just captivating! Plus the first iPhone to introduce stereo audio and dual camera!

I let my father-in-law borrow my old 32GB iPhone 7 Plus several years ago when I upgraded. Got it back recently and a ton of stuff needed replacing such as the touch screen, charge port and battery. I didn’t even know the battery health could go as low as 46%….

Anyway! I replaced all those issues for less than $100 and I use it as my work phone and it’s super solid. Haven’t had any issues with lag, crashes or anything. Works about as great as the day I got it and that’s me running it on iOS 15.4.1 as of writing this comment.

If you just need a smart phone to do the basic stuff such as web browsing, emailing, texting etc then it’s an awesome phone. I’d highly recommend it if you can find one at a decent price in the used market. I love the older iPhones that still have a Home Button. The thumb print recognition is just top notch!

End of last year I bought a iPhone 7 Plus 128 GB as a backup phone for just $50 dollars. The screen was cracked and the battery needed replaced. I found a store that replaced both for about $100.

Earlier this year I dropped my main phone - a iPhone XS Max 256GB while working out at the gym. I had a case on it and screen protector but a line formed down the screen and made using it not a great experience. Apple wanted nearly $300 for just a screen. 😵‍💫

So for over 6 months this year I used my 7 plus as my main device while I decided what to do with my XS max. I recently found a shop that replaced my XS max screen and battery for $180.00. I also bought a new case and screen
Protector and just updated to iOS 16. My XS max is just as fast as the iPhone 13’s it’s amazing.

But Back to my 7plus. It worked decently until I updated to 15.5 and after it slowed down enough to make not very smooth as a heavy user. - I do gig work like Uber and it really gets taxed running Uber and a music player like Spotify and will often crash and have to reboot apps. The battery after 10 months is already down to 90%. 😱and I have to charge it 3 times a day typically.


However, I will say the 7 plus makes a great 2nd phone great for watching videos or browsing social. It’s a great phone for a kid or older person. But I would not suggest it for someone that uses the phone for taxing apps like Uber or for gaming.

Nowdays iPhone portrait shot not perfect. I think iPhone company should use iPhone 7 plus portrait lense for next iPhone. Otherwise Samsung very soon can beat iPhone camera. Samsung last S22 camera compare good in portrait shot
