Can always keep what you have, especially if it’s paid off and currently running well. Then be diligent about putting money in a savings account equal to whatever the monthly payment would be on a new purchase. Chances are nothing substantial is going to happen and you’ll have your own money earning a little interest instead of paying interest on a new loan. Then if something does break, you have the cash on hand to pay for it.

I bought mine "certified pre-owned". This supposedly bumped my warranty period and increased my coverage.
I say supposedly, because the things they bumped it to sounded suspiciously like the terms for the extended warranty they also tried to sell me.
I've never bought the extended warranty on any car an I typically keep my cars for 100K+miles.
The extended warranty is typically ~$2, 000-$2, 500. Save that money and the first time you need a major repair or several smaller repairs that are in that range. Get rid of it and get something else!
The dealer agreed to my demand to knock $1, 800 off the price because I think they figured they'd talk me into the warranty! They figured wrong.
I just went over 20, 000 miles. No major issues so far.
Besides that I'm pretty handy at fixing stuff. 😁

The only downside is having car payments forever (not everyone can just afford never ending car payments) sometimes It's nice to own a vehicle outright. But with a new model as the Gladiator I can also understand having a warranty. I have one more year on mine and/or 16k miles to go. I'll hit the 3yrs first. then will decide if I go for a 2024/2025 model or switch back over to a Wrangler 4door.

i recently traded a jeep compass in & got a jeep gladiator(love it so far) and the compass had an extended warranty through mopar, what a nightmare trying to get the money back from them, i will never get an extended warranty through mopar

You nailed that one, insurance companies are so shady and dishonest. Got an extended warranty on my 2020 Gladiator when I first purchased it in 2019 and still haven't used it going on 55 thousand miles.

5 year 100, 000 mile on the drive train warranty. 3 year 36, 000 mile bumper to bumper. The primary concern for me would be the electronics going bust about the time the 3 year expires. Had a friend with a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon, bought it in fall 2019, early 2023 he had computer issues, electronic issues, dealer had it in shop for a week. When he picked it up his leather and carpet had oil stains, driver door panel scratched and dirty, then to add insult to injury had to return it because it still had lighting issues, not to mention in cost him a pretty penny. He traded it this summer for a new Solar octane trd pro Tacoma.

If I was going to pay for a warranty I would buy it thru Jeep. I probably won't buy one tho. You make it sound like jeeps are constantly breaking down but in my area they are holding up well. The last wrangler I had I put 109, 000 miles on and it was never back to the dealership except for the couple of free oil changes they gave me and the Thursday free washes lol

I blew it, I started modding before the warranty was up. Took a chance, but the service took the jeep in for leaking transfer case- other than that I had no mechanical issues. My vehicles never had those kinds of problems.

If I get over 60k on the vehicle, it seems pretty much good to go. My C-max CVT was slipping, but with an OBDII tuner did something to fix that. 270k on that car and no problems.

Given some reports of problems with Jeep Gladiators, many of us excluded, an extended warranty might be a smart purchase, but my advice is to be careful, there are a lot of scammers out there, do your due diligence and find a good one! Like you, Rob, my Gladiator will run out the clock before it comes close to hitting 36, 000 miles. So far so good, no issues yet, aside from the aftermarket wheels and tires that the dealer doesn't seem to be able to balance, very annoying vibration or shudder that wasn't there with the OEM factory wheels and tires.

Hi Rob, The only vehicle I got rid of due to warranty concerns was a 1986 Meercury Merkur, which had a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. The car was a POS being bak at the dealer almost on a monthly basis. That car couldn't stay running under warranty, let alone out of warranty. I do not have a concern with my Wrangler being out of warranty. There is always a back story to the doom and gloom stories of folks who have had major out of warranty problems.

Rob, I have done many risky things in my life, but have to draw the line at owning a Jeep that is not under warranty (prefereably, a factory warranty). Especially these days with all the electronic stuff that can go wrong. Of course, with a successful Gladiator-themed YouTube channel, you might consider simplying rolling into a new Gladiator when the original 36- month warranty expires.

How much would it cost you to get a New 2-door Jeep if you traded the current one off? Considering the wrangler is almost new milage wise I think it would be a smart decision to keep the current one, put $10, 000 in a bank account and use it for any potential rapairs. Considering it rarely leaves the house from the sounds it, I doubt you'll spend much of that 10k.
