It's crazy how they have enormous strength and structure in the water but on land, they're just a big pile of mush.

They are actually pretty harmless when they get near the surface as they can't function properly and usually die. They live over 10000 feet below the surface, and if you are that far down, you have bigger things to worry about, such as pressure.

The giant squid also injects its prey with it's saliva which breaks down tissues and organs and turns the insides into a sort of soup. Then it basically drinks you.

The giant squid remains largely a mystery to scientists despite being the biggest invertebrate on Earth. The largest of these elusive giants ever found measured 59 feet in length and weighed nearly a ton

Giant squid (Architeuthis) live in the deep ocean, and never come to the surface unless sick. Even with specialist deep-diving scuba gear no human is ever going to get down into giant squid habitat (and no giant squid is ever going to break into a submersible), while any giant squid coming up into the depths a human might swim in will be too ill to attack anyone.
