Music can be so evocative. It brings back memories that have sometimes faded and it can stir the emotions you felt when you first heard a song that rekindles those memories.
The film here takes us back to a London that’s now a memory too. Alvin Toffler in his book, Future Shock, said that ‘Constant Change Is Here To Stay’. Some changes we don’t need though do we?
But when you hear a song this wonderful and see a stream of film that evokes the memories of a bygone era it can be heartwarming. It makes you feel something about a past that we can’t recapture but that’s life. Let’s live the good times even if we can’t bring them back. ♥️

I used to walk up Piccadilly in 1959 going to my very first job as junior typist. It was magical working in London, the fashions the music and the optimistic approach to life. Now 81 years old.

These heart-wrenching images of London show the extent of the decay of our civilization.

This combination of music and visuals definitely brings back a certain nostalgia. A once great country that was once looked after!

Heard this today while browsing in a charity shop, not heard it for many years.. brought tears to my eyes thinking about the past 40 years with my husband who has recently been diagnosed with a life changing disease, I am so fortunate that I had the good times for a very long time

Just a few years before I joined the UK Armed Forces, this timeless iconic classic song, has so many memories for me.. A song that never fades with the passage of time, and a time when you could walk through our Capital without fear.. The dark times will always be removed by the good times my friends.. Love❤ Stay safe !!

I had a lump in my throat listening to this song and watching this video, reminding me of a very special era that was and will never be again. Special, not just in music but pride and common decency in everyday life when people were prepared to work for a living and not expect the state to provide and pay for everything. I guess most people will reminisce about the era they grew up in but I'm just so glad I grew up in the 60's/70's.

This is the London that I remember when I was a little girl. A few times my mother took me up to visit St Paul's, the Natural History Museum and National Gallery at the very end of the '60's/ 1970. This was how it was. I could weep. We have destroyed our land in one generation.

Steve Ellis could sing the phone directory and have a number 1 hit. One of the best voices ever recorded.
