I've read several of Colson Whitehead's books and he is a fabulous writer. He won back to back Pulitzer prizes for two books, The Underground Railroad and The Nickel Boys. The Nickle Boys is based on a true story about a reform school in Florida. This school was killing it's residents and burying them on the school property. Some Anthropology students from the University of south florida, I believe, found out about it and lead an excavation of those bodies. The book was heartbreaking and it looks like the movie will be, as well. Colson's The Underground Railroad was also a movie on Netflix a couple of years back. It was solid. A fabulous writer; I'll be reading Whitehead's stuff forever. In fact, I have his latest book Crook Manifesto which I'll be starting after I finish 3 Shades of Blue.

This movie absolutely floored me. I must warn that it is not for the faint of heart and the presentation and filmmaking techniques, groundbreaking as they are, are going to lose some people. Go into this movie with an open mind and embrace it, it'll knock you out

1:23 The boxing chapter has been part of what made the book stand out for me nearly a year after reading it. Whiteheads words aimed straight for the heart and struck a chord. I can’t wait to see this film but I know it’ll hurt when I do
