When we think of NASA, we picture brilliant and daring people. People who are willing to do anything in search of truth. Flawless individuals who are nearly incapable of making mistakes.

We may be right if we look at things from a technical point of view. Since, without them, we may have not understood the entire potential of this infinite fabric known as the Universe. However, there are moments where these perfect men and women were kept at the edge of their seats, moments where they made life-threatening errors — moments when they believed they were done for.

Welcome to Factnomenal, in this video, we will learn about ten frightening instances when NASA feared all hope was lost.

I was at work, watching the Challenger launch. When it exploded, I remember hoping against hope that somehow, the crew cabin, which was its own piece of debris, would somehow let the crew live. Of course, that was not the case and as it was replayed over and over again, I was so sad for the crew and their families. Sigh.

I was in Plano TX when the shuttle exploded the shockwave shook the house and woke everyone up . You could feel a sense of dread in the air from that moment :(

😱💥 What would you do if you were on a shuttle that was going down?

You forgot the first docking exercise of a Geminy piloted by Neil Armstrong, with a agena upperstage. After docking both craft startet to rotate because a control thruster had a defect valve. Armstrong succeeded in last moment to separate from agena, and they returned safe. 😎

Why did they not put tiny cameras all around that telescope so we could all see out in space ?

It's difficult determining if you should tell the truth because honesty is a part of showing responsibility. This equals wisdom and maturity but I think we all should be required to understand our rights. If we're honest then we'd have no regrets.

I'm glad all these stories got a happy ending and no one got hurt. Space flights have always been fraught with great risk, and I am grateful to those people who take it for the sake of science. I wish all other operations were accompanied by the same luck !

This is Absolutely mind blowing! Try to imagine the first steps into the great unknown? How courageous do you have to be in order to even make an attempt. Science and physic's are rudimentary to say the least! It's Incredible knowing that the hardware that was used is at best 50/50! Suppositions are not an adequate way when dealing with Fundamental Reality. Yet through trail and error Success was Achieved. It is truly Astounding that humanities' Ability to rise and Embrace the Future is Tantamount To our very existence within the Universe! Thank you for this movie, it has been a humbling experience.👍

Apollo 12 was launched on November 14, 1969. Despite being struck by lightning twice during the first minute of flight, it went on to perform the second successful human landing on the Moon.
There was no abort or self destruction .
Stay Calm and set SCE to AUX

We don’t understand anything. We just think we do.

The Webb telescope getting hit is proof you must do well in school. Future astronauts needed!

The part about Apollo 12 being struck by lightning is true, however, you incorrectly stated that the Apollo 12 astronauts used the Apollo abort tower to escape the damaged Saturn V rocket and land in the ocean, but this never happened. Apollo 12 successfully landed on the moon, and all astronauts returned safely when the mission was complete.

I can remember everyone of the disasters that happened to the Shuttles! I was at work when it was broadcast on CNN, and in those early days before the glut of 500 channels and such, well they switched to the only new being shown, was the Columbia disaster! and that awful shot of it's ultimate demise, of the explosion shown over and over again, some times in slow motion?!? with the talking heads over analyzing it?! like All I could think of was the poor families affected, and CNN showing what was instore later on!

Nothing about "resetting" the Apollo 12 computer after the lightning strike??
