“Mazurka Glissando”, alternatively known as “Mazurka en Glissando”, is a piece by the Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona. The most notable feature of the piece is its eponymous glissandi, which appear extremely frequently.

Lecuona was born in Havana, Cuba, during the fin de siècle. He composed his first song at age 11 and graduated from the National Conservatory of Havana at age 16. By the end of World War I, he cast his lot with a group of entrepreneurs in setting up a player piano music roll factory, and successfully promoted nationalist Cuban music. Throughout the rest of his career, Lecuona widely traveled to perform as a pianist, all the while composing classical, film, and popular songs. However, in 1960, Lecuona fled to the United States after the Castro Regime took over Cuba. And scarcely three years later, he passed away from a heart attack during a visit to the Canary Islands. Lecuona was buried in New York, but wishes for his remains to be returned to Cuba after the regime falls.
