Thanks for stepping through the process. It did help me complete the installation for the first time. However, I would have like to see a bit more in the way of explanations for some of the options - even if only brief. Aside from the forest functional level, we were left to simply watch you click Next over and over, without any information as to exactly what we were doing.

@cbrowniedotcom These are things I can't cover at the moment because I don't have the hardware. I plan to build or buy a VMware ESXi server so that I can do more tutorials and maybe things with multiple servers.

Hi I want to give a suggestion in this installation process. In windows 2008 R2 server its required to go to the command prompt and type dcpromo and you need to finish the wizard only then the ADDS service will be added in the roles successfully .

i am thinking about getting windows server 2008 and i want to know what kind of user file system thay use is it a junction system like vista and 7 or dose it use an actual folder registry system as well what kind of boot up is it NT loader or boot manager what kind of ram and processes dose it run bare bones ie out of box even if i could get some good resources to figure it out for myself or anything would be helpfull

Hey thanks for such a nice and valuable video. It at times been very difficult to install the Active Directory in a new server at the time of migration. Please explain like in case if i want to exclude some person that he should not be able to sent the email via exchange from AD then how it can be possible. Can it be done through an Third party applications only or it can be done through by manually. I heard about a tool name as Lepide Active Directory Management that can do so.

@mullinsJ08 I think you misunderstand my comment. I understand that as you only have the facility for one VM you locate all services on one guest OS, that's fine. My point is, if I was someone looking to find out how to install AD DS I'd probably be concerned as to WHY exactly DNS is installed? What happens if I don't install DNS? What's the significance of DNS? Etc etc.

While the video is good in that it steps you right through start to finish of installing AD DS, I feel it's lacking in WHY things are done a particular way. Why did you choose to install DNS? Why did you choose to make this a new domain controller in a new forest? When would I pick the other options?

I know the answers so I'm not asking you to respond, just an idea for future videos - a bit more depth on each prompt would be useful.

@shadowless547 Hi. Did you actually read my comment? As I said, If I was someone who wanted to know how to install AD DS, I'd probably want to know why DNS is required. Of course, I know why DNS is required. My point is; to someone learning, they likely don't know exactly what DNS does regarding AD.
