" Erin Andrews is giving a full report on what she experienced after learning she had been stalked and unknowingly videotaped while undressing inside a hotel room in 2008. "People thought it was a scandal," the sportscaster recalled to Hoda Kotb in an interview on her Making Space podcast Nov. 20, "and I'm the square from high school. I don't do those things." She added, "I knew the second I got the phone call from my friend at Sports Illustrated that he said, 'There's this video,' and I said, 'No, there's not. I don't do that. I'm single. I don't have that going on in my life.' Also, according to an article by CNN Airbnb have dealt with many issues of homeowners hiding cameras in their short term rental properties! "It was another lawsuit brought by another victim whose fun-filled vacation turned into a voyeuristic nightmare: A woman was secretly recorded undressing at a rental property, her images stored on the computer of an alleged sexual predator accused of spying on unsuspecting renters for years."

Airbnb, one of the world’s largest short-term rental companies, had seen this sort of scenario before. Typically, the company seeks to settle hidden camera cases quickly and confidentially.

I’m part of Airbnb host groups and the amount of people who fuss about guests messing with their indoor cameras is ASTOUNDING. Like, I get wanting to protect your stuff - but it comes across obsessive, controlling, and intrusive above all else. I am super respectful of other people’s homes, but I don’t want to have to act like I’m being watched! Even in common areas! I want to walk around naked, maybe I wanna do a little something with my husband, but also I don’t want them seeing my children! It’s creepy. It’s unnecessary. Airbnb ABSOLUTELY did the right thing by banning cameras. Doesn’t mean hosts will listen. We have to be diligent.

My husband did this (my ex now). He hid a camera in a vitamin bottle in the master bath. He was going to try use the video in case of a divorce. Luckily I found his little set up before he could do anything with it and I called the police. They confiscated his whole computer and arrested him. I'm so thankful I found this before he had the chance to use it. I took my pets and left that day and filed for divorce. Be careful; you just can't trust anyone except your dog; seriously.

Hi Christina! My husband and I owned a motel in Nevada. I would NEVER dream of putting a camera in any of my rooms or any place that could compromise or make them feel uncomfortable. We did have cameras in the lobby and out in the parking lot area. That’s it. I think it’s an absolute invasion of one’s privacy and none of anyone else’s business!! This is scary.

I just wanted to say that watching all the family trips and Air BnB stays…. It struck me just how loving your family is. My own family is fractured and splintered and as an adult I realize what I thought was love, is not. It really helps my aching heart seeing how much y’all love each other. The messed up thing with Erin's case was that hotel executives were caught watching the videos DURING the trials where their companies were being sued.

This happened to us at an AIRBnB in Hot Springs arkansas. I guess they didn't realize the cameras had speakers on them and we could hear them talking about us and laughing about scenarios they hoped to see. We left immediately, reported it to AIRBNB and got a refund.

I went to an Airbnb because I had to travel for a job training and I realized the host had hidden microphones on the studio. Then the host spent the entire day doing construction work in front of the Airbnb with his buddies. It was just me. A single female. Never again. I rather pay more booking hotels.

Thank You For Covering This !!! My MIL Passed away March of this year. My Husband, My Kids, my BIL & his wife & kids we all rented this huge air b&b yo stay in… We found NO LESS THAN 8 cameras including in the children’s area and the 3 bathrooms. Those aren’t to keep parties to a minimum ~ Those were GROSS intent !!!

This is a worldwide problem. I used to live in South Korea and over there one of the issues is people placing hidden cameras in public restrooms. The cities have hired teams of people that go around the with camera tracking devices and search the public restrooms daily. 😱
