Trump’s broad plan for 10% tariffs would be “very difficult for Canada,” ambassador warns

Former U.S. president Donald Trump has a plan to impose a 10 per cent tariff on all imports into America if he’s voted back into the White House.

It’s a policy that would be “very difficult for Canada,” according to Kirsten Hillman, Canada’s ambassador to the U.S.

But Hillman says the policy would not only raise prices on Canadian products, it would not be good for Americans either if it results in a tit-for-tat over tariffs between the two countries.

Dawna Friesen sat down to speak with the ambassador ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Maybe Canada should consider supporting its own workers for once, instead of importing the underpaid and exploited labour as TFWs.

If Canada is having a hard time financially maybe the governments corruption should be examined and prosecuted. Perhaps Canada's government could put Canada first instead of the pockets of Liberal politicians and their friends.

If you listen even just a little closely, Trump never mentions putting tariffs on Canada. But he always says he wants to put tariffs on China. China is his main concern.

When you've run a rich country - like Canada, into to the ground, everything's a shockwave.

You know what else is difficult? Having insufferable clowns and puppets running the country.

10% tariffs in comparison is negligibe

Maybe if JT kept his mouth shut about DJT and acted like an adult. This would be less of a problem. Global’s reporting is so left leaning it is disgusting.

JT told injured veterans that they are asking for more than Canada can give, then turned around and helped fund a war in another country (non NATO) on a completely different continent; JT isn't good for Canadians....

I think he’s basing tariffs on what the business deal is with other countries. I recall him saying he wanted to tariff Canadian lumber when he was president but in his recent podcasts, he was referring to countries where there was a huge trade deficit or bad deals. I don’t think he just plans to tariff literally everything from everywhere at all times.

Canadian politicians should be concerned about the problems within its own country!

"Canadian tariffs on Chinese EVs are now in effect. What does that mean for Canadians?"

It means that Justin doesn't care about climate change obviously.
