What is netstat? Netstat is a command line tool that is used to display the current network connections and port activity on your computer. It’s a useful tool that you can use to see what service may be running on your computer or server and what ports are open.

Netstat -b requires elevation and has to be run as an administrator. You can open cmd as an administrator by searching for it in the Windows search bar located in the bottom left corner of the desktop screen. Type cmd in the search bar, then, right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

I'm surprised you didn't talk about the -o switch, witch shows the (PID) process ID. This is very useful for identifying applications that are connecting to the internet. If you find that there is an application that is misbehaving or shouldn't be connected to the internet, than you can find it in the task manager using the process ID and kill the program or application! Very useful tool!

These videos are so powerful in the line of work and belive me when I tell you, not many know of this. Keeping in mind that running a business requires explanations to customers and they appreciate when they see their own technicians are prepared.

youve made a mundane system interesting! BTW netstat -b will require use of Admin CMD Prompt. Instead of normal cmd, just right
click it and press Run as Admin for anyone wondering

I spent the last three days and watched every single video to refresh for my ojt. Amazing videos and work well even at intermediate levels trying jump back the basics or used as a training tool for other techs. 🥺 now I'm going to have to wait another month for another video. I know they take long to make, especially for the quality, but I'm addicted

Thank you for showing & explaining NETSTAT. Wish I'd known about it back in my IT troubleshooting days, when I was taught IPCONFIG.
