This definition is wrong. Kurtosis does not measure peakedness at all.

You can have infinite kurtosis with a flat-topped distribution, and you can have negative excess kurtosis with an infinitely pointy distribution. Kurtosis is a measure of heaviness of the tail (or outlier potential), not a measure of peakedness.
