Hey loves! So my car is pretty old and it's time to start saving for a new car. Before I set a savings goal amount I like to figure out how much I'll need.

I decided to set up a sinking fund for this new goal and will give myself 2 years to get it complete. Stretching me pretty thin but I believe I can do it especially since I'm now debt free!

My story is quite similar, and am now saving for a better car. Brakes, tires and AC are parts that gets alot of ruff wear, so it is NORMAL to have to change the worn out parts. It doesn't mean your car is bad. It is if your engine is failing you again and again you have a real problem. It is normal maintenance to change worn outs when we own cars, and has to be budgeted for. So it is smart to have a car maintenance and a new car envelope. Took me some time to understand the difference, and I am alot more happy and relaxed with my car now when it is asking for new soles on it's shoes😃. Great video!

Youl definitely do it and God forbid if your Mazda completely goes in a year or so youl most likely have the money saved! 🙌👌 we don’t pay all those extra fees when we buy a car in the U.K. you just pay the price of the vehicle. We pay monthly or yearly tax and an MOT once a year. 🤯

We’re living the same life—I just had to get my tire replaced, AC repaired, and brakes replaced in the last two months!! Except I just bought my car less than a year ago used at 95k miles 😞 so now I’m selling it and have to get another

You got this Dyana! You’re so driven so just know it’s gonna happen ❤️ You keep me in line 😂. 2 questions tho, have you checked the trade in value of your car now through caravan? Perhaps deduct $4, 000 more or less from 2 years from now. Whatever is left over may give you some more wiggle room! Heaven forbid anything else comes along with the Mazda, will you continue to invest in the repairs? Or do you have a cutoff repair amount ? As always great content. Thank you for being you ☺️

I wish I would have been able to pay cash for my new one! I’ve done it one time for a used jeep for 2k bought from family years ago.

I just caved in April and bought a new car, my very first brand new car. I’ve had 7 other used cars before.

My last one that I had broke the camel’s back the difference in payments from my old car and my new one is the $115 a month. I was spending between $1, 600-$2, 500 a year on maintenance on a 10 year old 187k mile car that also had mold in the back since it leaked when it rained.

I had planned to pay the old one off and save up at least half for a new one in cash, but it just wasn’t going to be worth it in the end.

I also save half of my old gas bill each month.

Edit to add: get your windows tinted as dark as legally possible. It mostly fixes burning from the sun. Best $220 I’ve spent.

No CVT, Continuously Variable Transmissions, especially from Nissan. If it’s a V6, you’ll likely be ok with a Nissan. Do avoid the pathfinder if possible.

Honda and Toyota’s seem to be reliable, even with CVT.

Price out tires on whatever suv you are considering. I’ve gone back to a compact sedan, but before that I had 3 suvs in a row. Tires cost substantially more as you go in to SUVs. Compact suvs aren’t as bad. The tires on my ‘11 explorer were twice the cost for the ones on my new Jetta needs.

Yes I like the idea of carvana. eBay also sell and delivers cars. I don't want a car note either.

I ended up with a Kia Sorrento and I love it. My mechanic feels like I can get 250K miles from it. I love the wipeable leather. And all that space! You’ll be so happy with an SUV. Game changer for sure!

I got my current car from Carmax and will probably go back. I had a manufacturers warranty and opted into the Carmax warranty with a small deductible. Best decision I’ve ever made. I had to get my engine rebuilt and some other repairs. Recall covered the engine but the other repairs were covered by Carmax warranty. What could’ve cost me $1400 only cost me my $150 deductible and Carmax warranty allows you to get serviced at a regular dealership or mechanic shop. I paid my car off early this year and it just passed inspection. Almost at $100k miles. I think I’m gonna hold on to “her” for as long as I can.
