Budget Bedroom Makeover DIY/Basement Bedroom Makeover

In this video, I makeover a small basement bedroom in less than a week for very little money. The before and after pictures are unbelievable! The DIY projects include creating a picture shelf behind the bed, converting a recessed light into an attractive ceiling fixture, building shoe storage from scrap wood, creating a built in bulletin board in a former pass through window, and using an existing dresser to create a built in storage unit. Excluding the cost of a new bed for my son, I only spent $205 on this makeover!

This is my favorite thing about Tuesdays--seeing what magic YOU have created in the previous 7 days. The bedroom makeover--especially the built-in dresser was inspired and transforming that awkward space underneath into storage was brilliant and exceptionally handy too. I think sticking with the black and natural wood for cabinets in the kitchen would follow the color scheme you have incorporated throughout the entire house. I'd probably go heavier on the "wood" details just to make it feel warm and "homey" (e.g., butcher block island with underneath storage and "hooks on some of the sides to hold dishtowels, miscellaneous kitchen tools?) Can't wait to see next week's installment!
