OS/2 was so fun to use back in the day. I remember the 3d chess chess on it. You were able to rotate the chess board and that was so cool

OS/2 was great. Its Presentation Manager API was a significant improvement over Windows API. Largely because the guys who'd just created Win16/32 API had a chance to fix all their regrets/mistakes. Sadly the thing that killed it was the joint ownership with IBM. When I challenged Steve Ballmer on it. He told me that they'd tried repeatedly to make it work. But IBM's instantance that we add features to support all their older products, even those discontinued, was placing a huge burden on the development. That & many other challenges in flying people all over the country was stifling innovation & adding so much delay that we'd ship. History proved him right when we saw the challenges & delay that IBM had in bringing OS/2 Warp to market,
