The Anti Cheat Fixed NOTHING! But There's Hope..? | GTA Online

On Tuesday, Rockstar added Batteye to GTA Online. The new anti cheat system for the game in the hopes it will battle the notoirously bad cheater and mod menu problems in the PC version of the game. Sadly, 24 hours later. We were back to where we were.

You know whats funny as well? Valve came out with an announcement that it is EXTREMELY simple to make battleye work with the steamdeck. Like valve themselves made it work and all Rockstar has to do is contact battleye and add some small option or change for it to work.

Its still better than it was. I managed to play 2 days without seeing a single cheater. It felt like a new game.

The fact they refuse to mask IP’s in public lobbies but ban menus that protect your private information in public lobbies is insane. ( I know I can just use other methods, I wanted money also. 6, 000$ in shark cards to get everything? No thanks. )

Ironically it is SO MUCH WORSE than before. It's destroyed performance, it's stopped Linux users from playing, and most importantly, IT'S MADE THE GAME UNPLAYABLE FOR NON-MODDERS!

Whenever a modder becomes host of the session, the game kicks ALL LEGIT PLAYERS. This means that if you're not modding, you're not able to play the game for more than 10 minutes in a public session. It's ridiculous, and this has been going on for just under 2 days now.

If Rockstar isn’t going to bother fixing the issue with Linux and Steam Deck users being locked out, plus the performance problems, they might as well ditch BattlEye and actually update their in-game anti-cheat. Slapping BattlEye on top of the game without addressing core issues isn't a real solution. At this point, fixing their own anti-cheat would not only be better for performance but also for compatibility across platforms. A proper solution benefits all players, not just the majority.

Anticheat system ends up being a massive nuisance to honest players while not being even an inconvenience to hackers. Shocking.

Meanwhile dedicated servers running 5M and other mods are largely free of hacking and cheating. GTAO keeps being the game that needs its player base to fix it.

Gtamen is the only bigger GTA Youtuber to come out and say that the anti-cheat was a net negative. Everyone else has remained radio silent.

Hackers found a way to tag honest players as cheaters, causing them to be blacklisted by Battle-Eye and forcing them to join lobbies that are for cheaters only.

Sad part is Rockstar's so naive that they thought the anti-cheat was going to fix the modding issue, it did not Then their server got hacked, damn Karma really is a bitch.
