Kit of the Week! Roland TD-50X 'Piccolo Snap'

Drum nerds, here’s another “Kit of the Week!” “Piccolo Snap” This is one of the original kits that comes with the TD-50X. Truth told: I did a TON of edits on this kit! The sound of this kit in Roland’s demo video is amazing, but the kit, as is, never quite sounded ‘right’ to my ear. I tweaked or outright changed virtually everything in this kit. One thing to note: the cymbal set comes from Vexpression’s Arsenal pack. And as you’ll notice, I opted to throw my Agop 13” Dark/Dry hats on for this demo. Couldn’t resist…the Agops are the PERFECT complement!! The basic idea of the kit is the same as the stock kit, but it is now one of my fave kits when I want a dry, cracking pop of a snare along with a kit that ROCKS! Hope you dig this kit!

Hey Dennis, so glad I found you. I really like this kit. After nearly 40 years as an acoustic kit player. I have recently gone totally electronic with a custom VAD 706 setup. Noise restrictions has forced the change with not only my drums but also my guitars, bass and keys which have all been headphone based through my DAW for recording. (except the drums.) I was cutting and pasting my Yamaha Studio sounds in the tracks and recording the fills when needed. I am hoping to get the Rolands setup for recording. I would love to try your setup of this kit to at least have a starting point for my very steep learning curve. Thanks again, Peter

Ah man, the pitch bend on the toms is gorgeous. Always a bit of a task to make Roland toms sound this good. Well done.
