If that is truly the best job on the planet, then why is there a shortage, of law enforcement, all around the US?

I personally couldn't imagine being a cop. 12hrs for 4-5 days a week naw I'm good. This ain't California or New York.

Have fun working nearly every holiday, midnight and swing shifts, politicians & brass injecting their own agendas while grossly limiting their officers to departmental "policies" rather than state and federal guidelines, throwing their officers under the bus at even the slightest backlash, hammering traffic enforcement to meet quotas (even though they don't use that term anymore) to fund these cities/villages etc., who cares if you get hit by a truck the municipality needs that $200 ticket, making cringe woke videos. Police officers are over-represented in regards to suicide, divorce, PTSD, etc. Almost forgot about the nepotism, oh and you'll have to spend upwards of $180 to even apply when a department uses a third-party to handle their application & physical fitness tests. No thanks
