Guys, in some states and countries cars must have safety stuff like precollision braking. Without this they can't sell it there. So with a big delay subaru adds it to their manuals, so it gives some future to the manual trans. Thanks subaru, #savemanual)))

I hope this means a return of manual transmissions in the Crosstrek, Forester, & Outback.

Hilarious watching the eyes dart back and forth as he's reading the teleprompter...

EyeSight is an awesome addition to the manual WRX and BRZ. You guys just don’t get it, but I was like you. I drove a manual VW GTI and STI and I’m a die hard manual fan. I think electronic rev matching is for children. Electronic parking brakes are also lame. But passive safety systems like EyeSight, are awesome.

It’s not for use on the track (turn it off). It doesn’t drive the car for you, so yes, you can hit a tree or ram into pedestrians. When I switch back and forth between my Outback with EyeSight and my other cars without EyeSight, I don’t notice a thing. My driving doesn’t diminish or change. When I first started using it, I was annoyed when the car would nudge me into the lane (like on curves) but I don’t even notice now.

Where EyeSight for me really pays off, is when you’re driving home after not sleeping for 3 weeks, and after working an 18 hour day. Or when you’re driving back home from Tahoe or LA (4-6 hours) in the middle of the night. Have you never driven while sleepy? EyeSight might save you in these circumstances, and it’s worth it. I’ve been waiting for the 2024 just for this feature.

Man, the comment section is toxic. Full of kids I guess... This system is engineered well. The one thing I don't like is the self canceling feature by intentionally pushing down on the accelerater. I would think if the car is braking and you are pushing down the gas, your mind would actually think you're pushing the brake pedal, thus causing you to unintentionally cancel the auto braking. But idk, I haven't seen the data they've collected.

Damn that's cool. I love the qdaptive cruise and lane keeping in vehicles I've driven that have it. Never thought they'd do it in a manual.

It's cool for those who want it, but I'm glad I got my 22 WRX before it became standard. I don't mind adaptive cruise control, but things like automatic emergency braking worry me. I've rented cars with it before that almost caused accidents just because cars cut me off

Most of the features that pertain to steering you actually engage with cruise control. The lane keeper outside cruise control is very mild.

Now consider an easy automatic way of disabling pretty much everything if you really feel that need. You simply block it's eyes and it disables itself.

My 2020 outback has it and i hate it. I literally turn it off because i find it dangerous with the way it jerks you back into the lane. I one saw a vehicle (with a teenage driver) go out of control and hit a tree. When i stopped to help he told me it was the "lane control" that made the car go out of control.
I'm glad my 2018 wrx doesn't have it.

They didn't have to kill the STI. They could've kept it going or put it on hiatus w/ the 2.4 pushing at least 350+. However, anyone driving a manual doesn't need driver aides since manuals are more driver engaged.

You need a setting to disable all electronics on a sports car. You say it’s not a sports car then show it on a racetrack. Make up your mind. WRC is what got you here.

What if we dont want the EyeSight system? I want a drivers car not a nanny system.

The implementation looks messy, but I was waiting for this.

I bought a base model to avoid things like this. If you are so terrible at driving that you actually need this, please take the bus or something. Put down the phone and enjoy driving.

... and when I am flying town into T1 and Pre-Collision braking decides to activate?
