Assembly bill 257 was narrowly passed in the state Assembly and Senate this week. Newsom has 30 days to sign the bill. It would create an independent council to set standards across the fast food industry on workplace conditions and wages, a first-of-its-kind in the nation

I can no longer afford to vote democratic. Another slap in the face pay cut to the middle class.

Newsom, what are your actions on the rapid, full blast crime in CA??? The thieves in the streets are in full bloom while the thieves inside the brick n mortar are subtle.

Why are people in this state so hell bent on giving the government so much power. Watch people lose their jobs if it gets passed.

The thing I find funny is. These people think the government is doing it for them.. the reality is it puts them in higher tax bracket.. meaning it entitles the state to more of both thiers!! And the employers money.. it may also bump them out of the low income tax credit on thier returns... no more fat tax return.
Unless the buisness leaves the state. Then the state gets nothing.

The problem is that management don't enforce codes.

not sure about this...food prices and restaurant prices are already going up and now this....they can make 20 an hour and will still not be enough, specially in the Bay Area. They can still make $30 an hour and will still not be enough...then restraunts will just raise their menus and so on. Dont rely on restaurant and retail to support you and the family. It will never be enough.
...better if the govt. stop taxing their tips.

I hope they legalize workers' rights to throw boiling water on customers that step behind/jump over the counter

I hope the restaurants all leave. If I owned one, I'd automate it or close it down.
