Dog parks are dangerous and bad dog owners make them worse.

How can you simply walk away from your dog doing something like that?
I feel so sad for this owner....This is horrible...

Very sad, dog walker should have known better ! Dog parks are dangerous especially for small dogs.

i no longer take my dog to any dog park -- after witnessing "dog walkers" unleash packs of dogs and then spend their time on cellphones instead of supervising the dogs they are responsible for. Also -- if you have a small dog be sure to use dog park areas fenced off and designated for "small dogs". you just have to be vigilant at all times - no matter where you are in any city public space. Swivel heads. condolences to papaya's family. rip sweet pup.

I don't even take my dog to dog parks in SF, irresponsible owners are everywhere !!! I rather go to Golden Gate park where there's very large amount of space for everyone.

never take your dog to a dog park. I've learned that lesson 15 years ago when my dog was attacked by some violent dog whose owner was busy talking to other people and did not take any responsibility for her dog's actions

There are far too many irresponsible dog owners who don't train their dogs in the City. I recently had my hand nipped at by a pit bull on Mission Street and the owner just laughed. Too many people are getting dogs for protection and don't care if they act aggressively toward others.

ooh...I've had issues with a shepherd named Tulip in that vicinity. She'd attacked my dog and others in a dog park close to my home many times. wonder if it's the same shepherd as described in the video.

Those dog parks can be sketchy. Paid dog walkers are not always as responsible as you would hope. Vets and dog trainers have told me a dog traumatized by a bigger dog suffers from PTSD and will never forget. Sure the owner just left. Inhumane behavior is common these days.

Really doesn't matter where u go because there are lots of irresponsible dog owners. I was walking my dog near the park then a big dog jumped out of a car window and attacked my Dobie. I ended up punching the other dog on the snout to save my Dobie. The car owner came running and never apologize, instead he said my dog attracted his dog. WTF??

Too many vicious dog attacks in SF lately. A pit bull dog (homeless owner, from Utah) attacked a woman (Allison) in Baker Beach. 2 pit bulls (RV homeless owners) mauled a man (Pablo Rocha) in Potrero Hill. A white husky mauled a smaller dog in Cow Hollow, and later attacked a toddler in the Marina. Coincidentally, all those irresponsible dog owners are not SF locals. In June, the insurance industry posted that California has the highest rate of US dog attacks incidents (LA is #1).

RIP Papaya’s family - If you have to watch dogs attack and tear apart your dog in front of your eyes and you can’t do anything about it…..Dog walkers also have up to 10 - 15 dogs at a time. Don’t sit on the grass in SF parks unless you have something to sit on.

Reckless dog owners unleash their rabid dogs all over the city without any repercussions. Just check the Presidio at the Lake Street Park, all along the trails, or officer's concourse -which has become a dog park so we can't bring our kids. A man let his mastiff loose yesterday while alarmed walkers had to run passed him.

Ugh, i cant 😢 i can't even imagine. If you know your dog isn't too friendly, don't have them around other dogs until they're socialized or have a muzzle on them. I'm so sorry, Papaya. May you be playing freely at Rainbow and come back to your family in the form of another pup. Sending everyone prayers and light 🙏🏻💫💫💫💖

This is heartbreaking and a reminder not to take small dogs to dog parks unless they’re specifically for small breed dogs. Some large dogs can get very excited when they see fluffy cute little dogs and see them as prey. Owners of larger dogs should not let their dog run loose in dog parks if they don’t have voice control of their dog. I hope the owners of the aggressive dog do the right thing and come forward.

Think twice about letting strangers care for your family (human or pet). Make sure you vet their experience and ask tough questions.
