without friendlies, this game won't survive, its already been shown in many games that a game that is nothing but competitive serious business ends up dying. the middle ground is what keeps it fresh.

TF2 is the only non-MMO I can think of where devoting 1000 hours of your life into a single game still brands you as a noob from some guy who wasted over $800 on Tour of Duty tickets.
