Thank you for making this. I've been searching everywhere for a simple "how to connect all the peices" and every site dances around it but never just gives a simple step by step. I now have my set up just in time for tonight's event!

This is very instructive yet quite simple. I was looking for a video to take a look at this set up, but there isn't any video as good as this. Thanks.

Hi, the SLT 130 mirror is too low down in the tube to get the correct focal length for prime imaging. However, you can get thumb screws from amazon which will allow you to move the mirror further up the tube so that the focus is farther out. After you've done that conversion, you might need a barlow without a lens to get a lens to focus, but the telescope will then work for both. The SLR is one way of sensor imaging, but after the focal length is fixed, you can also use a Celestron Neximage which has an imager with a far higher pixel density than an SLR. Switching between the two gets you to different levels of zoom for prime imaging. The reason why I wanted to go with prime imaging was because I got a blue tinge on the images when I used a lens. With prime imaging, there's nothing except mirrors between the sensor and the moon, planet, star, or star system.

Thanks. Great tutorial. People like you make the internet a better place. I am getting my adapter tomorrow. This video will make it much less frustrating.

Can't you plug in the dslr straight to the 2 inch opening under your 1.25 inch eye piece adaptor?

If you fit the threaded 1.25" adapter that you removed from the focuser directly into the t-adapter, missing out the entire eyepiece projection assembly, you should be able to get the sensor close enough to achieve prime focus. With no glass in the optical train you get zero chromatic aberration and a nice wide field view.

Man I wish I can have your voice... and your telescope... but mostly your voice.

Hey another helpful vid. If you get this, I wonder if you can identify the name of the DSLR/eyepiece adapter you're using. Thanks again!

This was a question I had and you seemed to have answered it. The adapters fit and are Universal to most telescopes.

Awesome vid! I am actually in the process of moving my mirror forward on the Nexstar 130 SLT to obtain prime focus. Very easy to do, combined with a solid tripod and wedge mount it will actually do really well!

This is excellent info. I hear of problems with cameras on reflector telescopes that it can't focus.

I have a Nikon DSLR D7000 and would love to purchase the same things that you bought for yours. Can you please list the name of the attachments that you used for this video? Want to try to get images of planets, etc with something like this. Thank you
