This is the poem on the statue of liberty. The first thing many new Americans saw when they immigrated here. It always fills me with a sense of pride that we are a nation of nations. That so many people came and still come here bringing their ideas, language and culture and that it gets blended into the unique mix that is our country. *I try to always say "our " country not "my" country.
The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

In Pennsylvania we have a really Russian (along with mixes of other Eastern European countries) In Philadelphia. Other than that, Pennsylvania used to be even more German than it is today. German and Pennsylvanian Dutch were widely spoken, like English. However we lost so much of it during WW1 and especially WW2.

That’s the wrong flag as I’m sure you know. China didn’t have their Civil War yet

Thanks we are a country of many people coming together. And our motto is “from many, one” Meaning from many people one nation. Don’t think people say this anymore, when I was in school the teachers would say we were a melting pot. Now it seems our differences. are emphasized not our similarities as human beings. We all bleed red. Enjoyed your video very much, take care.

Quite a few loyalist families moved to Canada after the revolutionary war. Then many moved back in the 1800s. Part of my ancestors were originally from NY and Massachusetts in the late 1600s, then moved to Ontario Canada in 1780 and came back to NY in the 1850s.
