Awesome video! Our National Anthem was written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812 with Britain. He was inspired to write it after Our Flag survived the night of bombing. He was surprised to see it still standing the next morning. We only ever sing the first verse. I never heard the second verse before. Please also watch the history of the flag. Thanks!

This video is the first and fourth stanzas. Usually just the first stanza is sung, but sometimes the first and fourth like in this video. The second stanza is seldom sung because it would make the song too long. The third stanza is almost never sung; it includes the lines "No refuge could save the hireling and slave / From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave, " which are now heard as a racist reference to the certain misfortune of escaped servants and slaves.


Just for fun, here is an example using the old declensions and conjugations:

I say, "Art thou sick, or dost thou have only allergies? If thou hast allergies, thou shouldst still take medicine for them. It will help thy nose and thine eyes. Dost thou have medicine? I have some pills. If I give thee some of mine, they would be thine. Wouldst thou take them if I give thee them? Promise me thou wilt."

Thou repliest, "I do have allergies, and I do not have medicine. I should indeed like some of thy pills. If thou givest me some of thine, I shall take them. I promise thee. My nose and mine eyes will thank thee. Didst thou get thy pills from a doctor?"

I reply, "No. I bought them at the pharmacy. I have known the pharmacist a long time. I met him at church. He is a good family man. He hath a wife and three sons who live with them. He also hath a daughter, but she is older and no longer liveth with them. She hath a husband, and they have their own children."

These forms are still used in certain parts of England.

NASCAR is one of the most American things I can think of but oddly Richard Hamond from Top Gear has one of the better videos covering the sport, and there are plenty of crash compilations to watch too. Also NHRA drag racing is very popular in the US.
