● Description
The Commodore Amiga is a computer close to the hearts of many retro computer fans, but as time goes on the Amigas are dying, not least because of the dreaded Varta battery leak so common in the A500+. Today we build the worlds newest Amiga. A new PCB, a new case and new upgrades will all come together to create my ultimate new Amige.

Amiga 500 was my first computer. I had a massive amount of games for it. I can not tell you how happy this video made me.

Wow I came upon this video by accident, to my delight. I bought my first Amiga 500 in 1987, the 2000 in 1989 and the 3000 in 1990. I bought the GVP 030 accelerator board with 8 megs of memory for my A2000, then I bought the Video Toaster v.2 for the A2000. I made videos and animations on it until the early 2000’s when I sold them all.

I truly believe the AmigaOS would have been the perfect OS for business instead of Microsucks Winblows. I use a Mac Pro in my studio for video and music production now.

I spent many hours playing Defender of the Crown, plus hundreds of others. Wow what a time machine. Great video!

It's great to see people making reproductions of old hardware like this. Kudos.

Great vid! When I was a kid I wanted to buy an Amiga but I couldn't get approved for the credit. I ended up learning programming on a friends Apple II and my parents bought me a "rat shack" color computer. After that it was a sea of PC clones. Since then I've been a professional developer for closing in on 30 years now. Thanks for taking me back!

Love it. I was an Amiga-phile from 1991 until the mid-2000s. Wrote for Amazing Computing, The Amiga Informer and more. Still miss AmigaOS and my PowerPC-upgraded A3000!!!

What a great looking board. Seeing that crossed out battery location made me panic for a while, thinking I'd unknowingly left my A500+ to die. You'll be glad to hear that wasn't the case, I had removed the offending item many years ago and just forgot the A500+ had one. Such a relief that she is still working and not been left to a grizzly end.

This reminds me of my dad. We had an Amiga 1000. But he bought some kind of board that he had to put together that increased the Amiga amazingly. He built a hand made wooden case for it with a plexiglass top so you could see inside. I seem to remember it brought the Amiga from 256 kb's to 1 mb! I might even still have it out in the garage someplace.

I approve of that spectacular purple board, Seeing you build a PC from the base components makes me really envious I don't even dare to tear my GameGear apart to do a cap repair.

I first got into Amiga's around the time this video came out and I started watching your channel, bought the Checkmate case and thought I would put a brand new A5000++ board into it also. After learning about the various Amiga computers I fell in love with the A3000 and A4000 big box machines. I found Hese's AA3000+ board and a couple months ago took the plunge heads first and ordered an AA3000+ board. Stephen Jones pointed me to Simon who makes sheetmetal fitting kits for the A3000 into the Checkmate case. So when my AA3000+ board arrives I should have a brand new big box Amiga in 2023! Amazing what the community has done and with keeping the Amiga alive.

"Why have I built it?" I think my answer would just be "Because I can". They are worth saving, and having one that is virtually brand new is an amazing thing. There is such an amazingfeeling of satisfaction and even pride when you make a kit, turn it and and see the fruits of your labours
