I've used an L7 spring setup for over 50 years, works great, less complicated, uses less materials and a quicker setup. In a survival situation these things can be critical. Keep up the great videos!

Thank you for showing us how to tie the constrictor knot it is very much appreciated. Most people demonstrating knots are facing the camera attempting to show how to tie a knot backward for the viewer.

It is almost the same as our traditions. Coming from Canada Northern Ontario My Grandfather taught us this method. We don`t use it anymore I guess in survival situations its effective. Our Ancestors taught us Only use it when really needed! Great vid, And love your knife. Take care Lilly :)

Excellent demonstration. I'm going to attempt to learn that style snare.

I prefer a spring snare that allows the animal to be lifted into the air. This breaks the neck, killing instantly rather than strangling, which is more humane. That may be one reason that African spring snare wasn't included in that survival handbook.

As always, another nice demonstration, very informative, and reminding people of safety.

A suggestion: Many branches lose their "Spring" tendencies in an hour or so of being bent. It is quicker, easier and smaller to use a log as an elevated weight with the string tied to it and ran through a branch of a tree. Gravity never goes limp.

Great training, and great warnings about what can happen. I'm glad you told of the seriousness of using such a trap, and warned that it should only be used in a true survival situation. It should be dismantled and scattered when done trapping or training, so as not to trap a neighbor's pet. I would add that a child's hand or foot would be a bad thing to get caught in the trap also. Thanks for the easy-to-see knot instruction. Really enjoyed this video.

Muito legal!!! Você fez um nó "constritor" a partir do nó "volta do fiel"... Mais uma que aprendi... Obrigado!!! (Very cool!!! You made a "constrictor" knot from the "back of the faithful" knot ... Another one I learned ... Thank you !!!)

Hi Lilly, several weeks ago, you made 2 vids on setting up a new log cabin camp near a small creek. You did a substantial amount of clearing & foundation prep & then the vids stopped. Has that project been put on hold or is it going 2Ba sporadic build over a longer period of time? No doggie 2day? Thanx 4 the snare info, stay healthy!! Ciao:)

You can always claim that hunting with a .22 or even air rifle gets you game quicker, but of course then you would disregard complexity of the tool as well as limitations, such as sight and ammunition. Snares are such a fantastic thing to build, because you can have many of them and they work while you sleep or do other things. The traps in Africa were very hard to spot!
Thank you for sharing this, I scribbled it into my survival book! I think it is much easier, more effective and safer than a deadfall.

Hi Lily, great demonstration of what is sure to be very effective. Setting up the snare trap however is only half the solution. It’s just as important to position it properly in a rabbits trail and restrict the path to make sure the animal goes through the snare.
