Labour has won the General Election.

Rishi Sunak conceded defeat in the General Election after winning his seat in Richmond, Yorkshire.

Labour and the Lib Dems have both taken seats off the Tories as former Justice Secretary Sir Robert Buckland became the first former minister to lose his seat after Labour took Swindon South.

He has been followed by Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, Justice Secretary, Alex Chalk and Leader of the House Penny Mordaunt.

Labour is on course for a landslide, according to the exit poll projection, with 405 seats.

The Conservatives are set for 154 seats. It has become the worst result since 1832 for the Conservatives.

It's not that Labour have done something amazing. It's that the conservatives have Brexited themselves so badly.

0:02 Yikes, I was predicting Penny Mordaunt to be the new Tory leader - just as well I'm not a gambler.

Conservatives don't deserve to retain power, Labour don't deserve to gain it. The fact we can let one party fester for so long and have such a horrible election result for the UK is a problem! System needs to be reformed

Not sure it has anything to do with kier starmer and more to do with the fact that the uk is getting pushed into a box with only 2 exits labour and conservatives.

46% of the electorate didn't vote. 1/3 of 54% who did vote, voted labour. That approx 18% of the electorate voting labour gives a vast majority. Just saying.

Labour didn’t win. Tories lost. Those are 2 different things.

I didn't vote Tory, have in the past but didn't this time. The biggest problem here is that we are so loathe to get involved in politics this won't really advance things by any appreciable amount.
It's not so much that Labour won, it's just as much that the Tories lost. Ok, so Kier is in the driving seat but I implore you all to let him know that he didn't get there solely on his stewardship. Be involved in politics and KEEP involved in politics or it'll just be a reversal at the next one.
We need to KEEP ALL POLITICIANS ACCOUNTABLE, not just the ones we don't like.

Not enough ministers lost their seats.

Interesting to see what they do from here; do they sell their souls even further and go more right wing. Or do they go back to where the Uk really is, which is the centre ground, with more mainstream MP’s. I think we’re done with all the shysters and weirdos that found prominence in the party in recent years
