The new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is intended to cover the broadest possible range of use in urban logistics. Accordingly, it is initially being offered as a panel van and a permissible gross mass of 3500 kilograms. Its maximum loading volume is 10.5 m3, the same as for the Sprinter with a combustion engine. As with the entry-level diesel engine, the electric drive in the eSprinter drives the front wheels with an output of 85 kW and a torque figure of up to 295 newton metres. A flexible payload and battery concept moreover allow adaptation to individual needs for practical use. The range with a utilisable battery capacity of 47 kWh (installed: 55 kWh) is 168 kilometres[1], [2] with a maximum load of 891 kilograms. A second battery option takes into account other priorities in the use parameters: the configuration with a utilisable capacity of 35 kWh (installed: 41 kWh) allows a range of 115 kilometres1, 2. In turn, the maximum load rises to 1045 kilograms. The integrated quick-charge function also ensures flexibility, thanks to which around 80 percent of the energy can be recharged within 30 minutes. The maximum speed can be configured to suit the task in hand: Maximum speed can be set at 80 km/h, 100 km/h or even as much as 120 km/h.

Not enough range for my fleet. Very disappointing. Ironic that one of the largest evs available has tiny battery.

It is really too bad. I wanted an e-van with way more power and range. I will have to keep waiting until a manufacturer has the consumer in mind.

They need the range to be able to reach at least 220 miles. You’ll need to reach charging stations. Otherwise many routes are unavailable.

It's not "kilowatts per hour", that implies acceleration of power and doesn't make sense. What you mean is "kilowatthours" which is a measurement of energy, or charge of the battery in this case.

I don't get why people confuse this every time, similar with ampere hours.

150 miles minimum to assure 80+ miles useful range. And why does the US never get any commercial EV’s? Oh well, I’ve put in 2 orders for the Rivian pickup and will just have to go the truck+trailer route for now...

I bet the cost would be to much for a personal cargo van, how is service shops,

We should have had this, with that short range in 2007, when I bought my Sprinter 2500 High Roof. Mercedes is so far behind the curve. 200 Miles with a full weight compliment of Upfit cargo shelving, inventory, tools... use of heat/ac etc.... I would have to side on caution and only count on 90miles range as indicated. Maybe by the time this goes into production, they will come up with a higher output battery pack system. But given MErcedes history, input from clients has always been a last, if AT ALL concern. I would love a Sprinter upgrade kit from Tesla... replace engine/drive-train/ gut the thing out and turn it into a Super Sprinter. The coachwork from MErcedes is so far ahead of the competition ( though the paint has always been an issue ) I would like to see running gear an electronics from a SPECIALIST in the field.

Same price on 5times longer of this range would be good.

Would have been smarter to make it FWD gas/diesel + electric motor driven RWD. As a hybrid, so you don't get stuck after just about 90 miles.

this is strangely ridiculous, were they really thinking they could sell this in the US with those performance numbers? Companies investing in charging stations maybe?

Disappointing range... and where can you charge it? Wait for Tesla to do one. Shame :(

Welp, in 2030 Boris is banning new petrol/diesel sales in the UK. If this is the best they can offer we’ll be fucked. Needs to be at least 500 mile range, this is what these things are built for. These aren’t even good enough for multi drop!

I would not recommend this van for driving ~8 miles to pick up a table because of tiny batterys

Good review, but unfortunately not a very good vehicle

Mercedes! 100 miles battery range? Wait for tesla, same size van will be faster, cheaper and have more than 300 miles battery range!
