Just my 2p worth when people ask me the common quesetion "Leica M3 vs Leica M6". Off course there are many other amazing Leica cameras so this video clip only compares strictly M6 vs M3. I use an M2 for example for 35mm available light and the M4-P for strobes and 28mm.

Matt, I had all leica M, (+20!) use them extensively. love your channel BUT, L have to tell people the true.

the best one is M7 ( had 5), as it give you contrôle of aperture ( boke) without looking out of the viewfinder and control of exposure with the compensation scale and the memory half push system.
Plus it is far more precise than all mechanical one wich need cla each two years!
As a photographer these three M7 characteristic is value million time and it is why Leica keep the exact same system of the M7 on M8, M9, M240, M10.
the light meter c of M6 / Mp is dynosorus.
the other are funny on black and white but don’t tell me you contrôle the triangle exposition… quickly… it is not true.
My second preffered Leica is the M4-2…. stronger than M4 in the mechanism ( steel gear for motor) and black .
Ma is good but no recess windows so finger marks on the viewfinder… and this stupid snobbish rewind and advance lever… sold mine to buy an other M4-2
M3 is ugly, M2 is too slow to load.
M6 is zinc and dark viewer…M6J is all the bad of leica all in one camera… funny but sold after a month.
MP is snobbish .
Did I tell you that only M6ttl and M7 has the correct sens of speed dial and could correctly expose flash with the liberty of choosing your aperture ?
did I tell you that M7 exist in 0.58 rangefinder for 28mm?
I am sorry I am hard but a bit fed up with all the bullish snobbish or non all M experience photographer.
I can say only one thing:
no money: buy an M4-2, money: buy the best ever made Leica the M7.
two last thing:
the nylon strap is the best ever strap on camera on earth… don’t exchange them for a snobbish leather or cord one .
from the M4, load your film as it should be with only 2 mm in the petal wheel and close the door… arm one time, with your finger on the quick rewind to feel that it is moving, arm a second time and STOP!
you will get 40 exposure on your film from zero to 39 yep man, free advise, wich save you 10% .

Funny I said something similar in another episode of yours. For street photography M3 is my choice to the 25 others I've used. The reason is simple, quiet shutter!

I got the M2 and a Canon 35mm f1.8 LTM, and a Reveni Labs light meter.

I'll stick to the M2, thanks. The 35mm Summicron is my standard focal length.

For me as I only have a 50mm on my Leica, and anyway it is my favorite focal length, between the two I would choose the m3. But I chose an m4, after having a m6TTL for some time (The m4 has a better viewfinder in my opinion) My only regret: not to have kept my m6TTL to resell it today, when I see the completely crazy prices! 🤣

Just get a Kiev 4 made before 1978, at this time they used the exact same machinery and workers to make a contax ii copy and modified it to be better, yet it was the only USSR camera that was high quality and was very durable.i would use this over the leica m3, it has 13% more magnification! Yet it only costs about £60

I can't imagine ever being able to have the choice. I just hope I'll find one for $5 in a thrift store one day. Beautiful shots! I have subscribed in hopes of living vicariously through you as you shoot your leica because I'll probably never be able to own one. BTW, please don't be upset if you scroll upon my video making fun of leica owners. It was all a joke for internet attention. I don't want to get cancelled by the film community before I get a reel following.
