Caught SPEEDING in a Go Kart...

We got caught speeding in a go kart... The pit lane speed limit was just 2mph for the 24 Hours of Daytona.

I'd say the speed limit is a touch on the low side, but still reasonable since a pit lane with 279 drivers and dozens of marhsals is always hectic.

But what I don't fully understand is how that rule is enforced when neither the driver has a speedometer nor do the marshals have a speed detection device.

While I do think the rule should be enforced (because you can gain a lot of time by speeding in the pits), but I personally think some sort of radar/laser based system should be implemented. What do you think?

What the hell kind of rule enforcement is that? If they can’t accurately measure your speed they can’t deal out penalties for speeding, simple as that.

Here is Australia we have timed pit stops. When you enter pit lane you must spend 1 minute in the pits and there is automatic screen on the pit exit with the kart number and time. That was no one rushes at all.

Raced there with these guys before. The organisers baffle me. For a company that claim to be a pinnacle in the country, they don't have a lot of foresight
