The piece values are not constant all the time, at times they can deviate a little or a lot depending on the nature of the position. The Reinfeld values are sufficient for general usage. However sometimes it's important to ignore the face values of each piece and apply dynamic value depending on the position.

Puzzle 2:03 answer: No, because if Nxd4; then, Bxd1. Rxd1... White gains 3 + 3; but, black captures 9.

If white knight captures black knight, it will open black bishop to capture queen (9+) which is not a good tradeoff. A better move is white pawn to H3.

Thanks a lot Nelson! Very instructive as always 😃 regarding the final puzzle, I started analyzing it thinking: “ok, so once my knight goes to d4, are there pieces threatening it? Not really, so...” But then I thought “ok, let’s see what happens to the rest of the board and in which situation would I leave the rest of my pieces” and that’s when I had a “WAIT A MOMENT” moment 😆😱 by moving the knight, I was going to open a highway in front of my opponent’s bishop on g4 which could then capture my queen on d1 and check my king 😳😵 So, in this case I would gain 3 points but lose 9. Even if I then recaptured the bishop with the rook on a1 or the king on e1, I would still have a total gain of 6 compared to a loss of 9. Not cool 😪 so my answer is “No way!”😳

No, black bishop would then get white queen.

When the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared it looks like white will get a knight and a bishop (6 points) but lose the Queen (9 points). Not a good deal for white! I enjoy your videos very much. I have watched many of them and now I am starting over at the beginning. :-D

You might want to mention that these are only average values. Eg. there are situations where a bishop is worth more than a knight or the other way around. Hell, there are even (albeit rare) situations where a knight is worth more than a queen.

No you shouldn't move the knight because black bishop might attack white queen

White should not take the knight because when we take the knight which is 3 points the bishop will take our queen which is 9 points and we can take the bishop after that, but then black has won 9 points and we have only won 6 points

I would yes to puzzle. Trade the queens, you captured their knight, 3 points ahead with possibilty to get the bishop too

Forgive me if I'm wrong: Isn't the value based on the attack rating compared to a pawn? A king is worth 3.5.

This is very clear.💖...but In some references, the value given for queen is 9 &3/4, . Bishop 3.25.
I am not clear about these fractions

It always felt like to me that the rook was the third best piece, glade it’s been confirmed to me it is.

There has to be a mathematical based answer on the relative value of knights and bishops
