That didn't work. Microsoft should be sued into oblivion.This borders on criminal at the very least. I have this problem. Microsoft Office apparently installed itself (I didn't and haven't even bought it) Then it associated all saved documents that were originally saved as Word Pad, Note Pad, and Open Office format documents as Word documents across multiple drives. I consequently cannot get into any document on my 5 hard drives. Only thing I can think of left is to uninstalled the self-installed Mircosoft Word that I have not bought or asked for.


Update: Uninstalled Microsoft Office (which I did not install in the first place Microsoft did) and sure enough I can now open all my documents. Just re-associate them with FREE Open Office and they open right up none of this permission nonsense. It's my machine I don't have to ask permission for jack. Certainly should not have to ask for Microsoft's blessing first just to open my own stuff. They are fascist to their very core. WHERE IS DOJ???

I followed your tutorial for this unusual sudden issue to give full permission to "everyone" on every file and I am still not able to open pictures as I have always been able to before this issue came up this afternoon (there may be other file issues, but this is the one I just encountered trying to open pictues I emailed from my phone to my email on the laptop). What is the next step to solve this "Windows Cannot Access the Specified Device, Path, or File Error?" Thanks, Bill Skye
