Abstract:
Software systems must evolve over time or become increasingly irrelevant says one of Lehman’s laws of software evolution. During software evolution technical debt (TD) follows a constant ebb and flow, being incurred and paid back, sometimes in the same day and sometimes ten years later. In this talk I will present how technical debt evolves over time in some of the Apache Software Foundation projects, the most frequent source code violations that incur it, if it is paid back and what are the types that are paid back more often.
