This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV plug-in hybrid SUV. This plug-in has a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor, a 6-speed automatic transmission and a combined 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It comes with standard AWD and has 50 km/30 miles of EV range. You can put regular fuel in this PHEV. The Santa Fe PHEV has a modern and elegant exterior design with a bold chrome grille and chrome trim on the windows and door handles. I would say it has a bit of a Palisade vibe to it. It comes standard with LED headlights and taillights, a spare tire, blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert and forward collision avoidance assist. The panoramic sunroof and proximity activated tailgate is available on the top trim. Another available feature is Remote Smart Parking Assist, all you have to do is get out of your vehicle and maneuver it into and out of a parking spot using the key fob. Sounds interesting, I haven’t tried this yet. Fuel economy is impressive; it earns a combined city/highway rating of 3.1Le/100km, 76 MPGe. With the battery depleted it gets 7.1L/100km, 33 MPG city and 7.3L/100km, 32 MPG highway. I have been getting 5.1L/100km so far and have been driving it in Smart, Eco and Sport mode. This fuel economy is not quite as good as the Sorento PHEV at 2.9Le/100km, 79 MPGe. With a 120 volt Level 1 outlet, your charging time is 10.5 hours and with a 240 volt Level 2 outlet, it’s 3.4 hours. The Santa Fe PHEV comes with an impressive amount of standard features including an 8” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, a leather wrapped heated steering wheel and power driver and passenger seats. In the US, the heated steering wheel is only available on the top trim. For only an extra $3,500 CAD/$6,010 USD you can move up to the top Luxury/Limited trim to get features like ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a wireless charger, a 12.3” digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof and the proximity activated smart lift-gate. In the US, you can get a 10.25” touchscreen on the top trim, but in Canada only the 8” is available.

Have now had this vehicle for about a month and so far, I'm very impressed! We are previous owners of a 2014 Santa Fe and although we really enjoyed the vehicle this 2022 PHEV seems to be such a step up. Brother-in-law purchased the same vehicle 2 months previous to mine. He drove with the original tank of gas off of the car lot from Sept. 9th to Nov. 14th before filling up. In that time, he got over 1600 kms of distance travelling around town.

You guys are great! I especially enjoyed the outtakes. How about a video dedicated to bloopers, although I'm sure you're nearly always perfect.

The 'WTF's' and Andrea having a giggle fit is the best. Show's the reality of YouTube recording..another great video again! Also, sent this to my buddy as he is seriously considering one of these vehicles.

You always point out something interesting in your reviews....thanks for that.
The comparison feature is an excellent angle. As a former broadcaster I understand those re-takes....getting the giggles is serious business.

Watched your review(and a dozen others). Looked for months and then found one in New York dealer Limited trim that was still in transit. I bought it based on reviews. I have had it for almost a month. My son in law has the Toyota Rav4 Prime. I won't say to him but I like my Santa Fe more. Great review that was accurate. Thanks

I like this couple. They always review the cars I have interest in and they provide a depth of real world information. I wish car review videos would edit in an additional 40% more screen time on footage of the actual car, while the hosts are talking. There area aspects of these cars we never see until we get to the dealership and 99% of the time we're not going to the dealership.

I like how Hyundai and Kia kind of hedge the market with unique takes. You still get the Sorrento with a 6 seat take.. And the Santa Fe with its bench version..

Thank you for the review, always learn something. Please keep the bloopers coming, shows how much fun you can have while doing these reviews. I’m not surprised Andrea likes the Sport mode, she did say before she has a bit of a heavy right foot. Lol
Looking forward to the next video.

Public impression on Hyundai/Kia brand has already started changing with the Palisade/Telluride. And now, with the new Tuscon/Santa Fe/Sorento and upcoming Sportage, it's all going to be a new era for them. All of these vehicles are selling way over MSRP in the US. Palisade/Telluride had markup even before the chip shortage. I strongly believe that these vehicles are going to hold their value very high compared to their older versions. It's a new Hyundai/Kia!
