Another way to do this - on a calculator at least - that helps with more complex numbers is to turn the percentage discount into a decimal then multiply the original price by that number. Using the example in the video, a 10 per cent discount leaves 90 per cent, which as a decimal is 0.9. So, 110 x 0.9 = 99. This method becomes very handy when the calculations are more complex. Example: there's an 18 per cent discount from a 362.25 dollar item. First, 18 from 100 is 82, so 362.25 x 0.82 = 297.04. Once you understand the concept you can turn any percentage into a decimal in your head in two seconds flat, and after that it's just one calculation to rule them all.
