it's a technical instrument. This uses part of the technique of the fry, but there is something missing and there is something that seems too be added as well which shouldn't be, right? I don't know the physical properties, but the amount of air pushing out is the technique that is used to create the fry, and the part that is added which is too much is the part in the vocal chords themselves. You wouldn't want it scratching in the chords themselves... It's definitely interesting here, as it seems there is too much scratching going on in this example video. There needs less of that and more of the power coming from the diaphragm.
