And yeah - vocals are like a rhythm instrument in hardcore and deratives thereof.
Much like in rap / hip hop, they can make or break the energy and vibe.

Phrasing can be used to make the song flow differently, to lead in a drop or breakdown (much like a drum fill would), to emphasize a slower or faster part, or to purposely contrast with it.
