The stone tiny house building is located in New Hampshire and is based on the small house design that Thoreau lived in for two years, two months, and two days that he spent at Walden Pond. Henry David Thoreau was An American author, poet, naturalist, philosopher, abolitionist, tax resister, development critic, surveyor, and historian. The book Life in the Woods is the book that Thoreau recounts this time in his life and is a reflection about simple living in natural surroundings. The book is part of his declaration of independence, social experiment, satire, a voyage of spiritual discovery, and manual for self-reliance. The small house design is also where Thoreau wrote his first book, A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers. Thoreau hoped that by immersing himself in nature, he might gain a more objective understanding of society through personal introspection. Simple living and self-sufficiency were also his goals, and the whole writing project was inspired by transcendentalist philosophy, which is a central theme of the American Romantic Period. This small cottage home was not in the wilderness but at the edge of town, which was about two miles away from his family home.

It’s just a “reading” space, no bedroom or bathroom. I spent quite a bit of time working on that project. We hand picked all of the stone from the property, we had also built several other stone walls around the property. It’s out in Alstead, NH.

Maybe because I'm English and stone buildings are normal here, this video was ridiculous. I was expecting to see the layout inside, not just a static image of the hearth repeated several times, and I wasn't expecting a long diatribe about all the things you can build with stone, that was totally random. 'you can build castles with stone' this was more like a kindergarten class and barely any content about the building in the title.

Forget the brick fireplace. I would prefer a stone one to match the exterior. It would have been nice to have seen what the interior plan was.

Wish America had been built by that simplistic, both stony house architecture & not by those ugly painted wooden... shacks!!!
Even alpine wooden houses in Austria & Switzerland, in more cases are much more beautiful, because they are built by more simple shaped roofs & the most of them are keeping on, the natural wooden texture.
This house here, has exactly the perfect simple anglo-saxonic cottage shape & the best building material of all... stone!!! England has houses of stone & brick mixed building method.
Even in the most remote & tiny village.
I didn't never understand, how the USA created under those, in most reasons, ugly multiple corner shacks!!!
Both simplicity, stone or cob, gives always the most beautiful houses & cottages!!!
