In this eye-opening video, I'm diving deep into why I believe that "Selling Digital Products on Etsy is DEAD." We'll explore the pros and cons of starting your digital product journey on Etsy, a platform with a low barrier to entry, low fees, and a somewhat provided audience.

But here's the reality check: Etsy is not the place to stay if you want a long-term, life-changing online business. I'll unveil how Etsy takes a substantial chunk of your profit, and they even advertise your competitors right next to your listings.

Get ready for some shocking insights into how easy it is for others to swipe your listings and products off Etsy. I'll guide you through how simple it is to set up a basic platform for selling your own digital products. Plus, we'll break down the numbers with two separate examples, showcasing just how much more you can earn by selling your digital products on your terms, not Etsy's.

If you're looking to take control of your digital product business and maximize your earnings, this video is a game-changer. Don't miss it!

Etsy, TikTok, started doing all three. I'll post again in six months and let you know how I'm getting on, either from my luxury Villa or a mental home 🤣

Surely moving from Etsy to your own site only works if you have a lot of followers/passing trade.

I created the first digital product of its kind on Etsy in its category and I was a best seller for a long time. Then I saw a few people copy my work almost very closely and now there are thousands of people selling this type of product. My competition started cranking many many products and eventually I got pushed out of the top as I couldn’t compete with the amount of things they put up. So yeah I definitely see now how Etsy can be problematic 😅

It's so saturated. I'd rather sell my in demand items with a website and run some ads. There are still a ton of shops on Etsy that make hundreds of sales a day

Finally someone who is realistic about selling digital products on Etsy! ❤ Soo many youtubers do the whole "shocked pikachu face + you can earn $$$ text" thumbnail 😂. A lot of them are oversimplistic, overly positive, and straight well, unrealistic, almost bearing on delusional. Of course, success is realistic, but putting extremely high expectations is not helpful at all. Thanks for the very helpful tips! 💛💛💛

Omg! This is GOLD!! I am at that step where I need to determine a platform to sell from and Etsy just never appealed to me because of all the things you mentioned! Thank you for clarifying why it is not a long term business plan! A good friend of mine is successful selling their products on Etsy and are encouraging me to do the same but I just can’t see me taking that route! You just confirmed that for me. Thank you so much!

Everyone thinks that the neat trick is giving away a freebie and building a list. Try looking up what those companies charge you per month for a list before you jump in. You better know you conversion rate and be good at keeping your viewers engaged or you will be paying for a dead list.

Good video. I recently open a Etsy shop to sell digital products and I noticed I start getting sales when I dropped prices to $ 1.99. Crazy that 4 hours of work worth $ 1.99. Yes people copy my work and selling it even cheaper!

I have been thinking of building my own site, I just need traffic. I do have technical background so website building is no issue for me.

Micky, you made absolute sense, the whole Ai situation has become super scary, people are losing jobs left right and center and for those who are jobless and want to start afresh from the scratch in the creative stream live etsy the AI has shown no mercy whatsoever at all, things are getting really very difficult each day.

Micky, thank you for making this video.

Moving to other platforms can be a good solution to build your shop brand

Won't people still go to your website and copy your ideas and then create them on Etsy whether your on Etsy are not theft will still happen? I just don't undetstand how that's a valid point to argue from. I do agree with your other points.

BIGGEST REASON I AM LEAVING ETSY: On my Digital Product Shop, I added up $60 with of Listing Fees for only about 100 listings. I thought "I could do SO MUCH more with $60/year!"

such as...pay for automation for email marketing
anything else I need here and there for my YouTube videos
paying for business expenses: the domain, my website, heck...my TIME I take to create and design more on my personal website.

and yes, I got tired of chasing the Rat Race of trying to create more and more and more....well, know that I am leaning more into Minimalism, Less really is MORE.

I really should have done this 2 years ago when I started this digital etsy shop too, beating myself up for that now.

Youtube channel + selling products from your own site is the WAY to GO.

most of the 100 listings haven't sold ONE TIME either, so yeah = money being wasted that can go to something else. Wanted to also start designing less, not MORE so I can focus on selling through my YOutube channel / social media.

It's really the fastest way to grow is hopping on YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Instagram or TikTok.

the barrier on etsy is so low that people sell digital products for $1 or less…that’s not a business model that’s worth my time IMO

Very interesting. I've only been on Etsy for 4 months, I've sold very little yet. But I realized right away that I should expand so I don't depend so much on Etsy. I replicated my products on other platforms and recently opened the same store on Shopify.
Watching your video, I don't know if I should keep it or focus on what you explain. I've been uploading my products to Shopify for a week but then I have to generate traffic...my social networks are still poor, over 300 followers. With your system it would be easier for me? and where do you advertise the products? there is no showcase like on Etsy? what do you recommend?

Great video! 💞I’m trying to get into selling digital products but I’m just nervous about the quality of the products. What do you do to make sure that the product that the customer is downloading and or printing has good picture quality?

Are you worried about people copying your products and then putting them on Etsy?
