Herping Maryland Bits and Pieces

We finished filming our Herping Maryland series, and found we had many notable reptiles and amphibians that we had not included while reviewing our remaining footage. Some of our finds included the Wehrle's Salamander, the Eastern Kingsnake, and the Carpenter Frog, among others.

I've never seen live footage of werhle's salamander - not a species that you hear alot about - quite attractive. Kingsnakes are always cool to see footage of . Very nice carpenter frog. We have a rather similar species in Ontario - the mink frog (so-named because of it's odour - personally, I think they smell more like rotten onions, and that's because I'm not sure what a mink smells like). Their call is a low, burry "cut-cut-cut" and sounds like someone rapidly striking 2 fairly large stones together). They are a northern species and are not found much south of our Muskoka area. They are best observed with a canoe because they prefer to rest on lily-pads in deeper water away from the shoreline. You have alot of southern frog species whose northern distribution reaches Maryland. It pays to be in the right place. Another cool video.

Awesome video I don't know how you find all those king snakes I've been looking for about a year and have yet to find one I live in NJ so most the stuff we get down here comes in the spring but on my channel I was lucky to find a painted turtle tho that was in FL
