My bass teacher made me play it at a concert after two years of playing bass. Practicing that bassline improved my playing so much and I think I played it quite well!

The fin in the water might be the greatest analogy for seeing that lick when you are at a gig sight reading the sheet music for the first time. 😂 😂😂😂 SPOT ON!!

This bassline is so good that even I as a pretty strict metal player learned it.

Pro bass playing at 18/19 is beyond nerve racking to me

Bro I’m trying to learn it with my euphonium. It’s such a nice iconic line!! 💯

Had to transcribe this bass line by ear as an exam for my music theory class in college. Admittedly he was a cool professor for doing this, but we were all in shock when we realized the gravity of the task before us. 😮

I had a house gig in a well known Vegas lounge. I bought a 6 string and decided to try it out at the gig for the first time. Lead singer called this song out of nowhere and we hadn’t played it in months. And here I am with a brand new 6 string fumbling all over the place because of the extra string in front of two amazing horn players from a huge act who of course have played this tune a million times. Was the most humiliating experience I’ve ever been through!!

I recently watched a bass player friend successfully sight-read an entire gig of songs he didn't know...

Learned this bassline in highschool and it was a blast to play it. Too bad i could not play at 100% speed bc the whole band couldnt play at 100% speed 😔

You guys should try bass lines from corridos tumbados, basically this generations corridos. It’s something different but I feel like you guys would like the style of which the bass is played

I was about 14 when I started eyeing up playing this on bass.

I had to play the bass line as a high school trombone player in a big band. Didn't know all my major and pentatonics backwards and forwards, which you really need to be able to sight-read this. At least the arrangement wasn't in the original key of B major.

I just learned this after only a month on bass. But its my 3rd instrument.

The lick at the start of the song reminds me of the main theme of super Mario 3d world

I've had to hit that lick on the spot at a gig before also. It's all just b pentatonic stuff so it's fairly intuitive. Luckily the sax player hit it real smooth and clean, so I had someone to follow
