You have some valid points like about the S9 SIP, but I think you’re missing the point of the Ultra watch. It’s meant to be more durable and built for extreme conditions. The front glass is flat to avoid the weak points that the curved glass has, has a titanium body which makes it more durable and resilient to extreme temperature scenarios like sub-zero conditions or very hot environments like deserts while maintaining full functionality. It also has triple the depth for water resistance at 150m compared to the standard 50m. The Ultra is certainly not for everyone, but it’s not meant to be nor is it advertised as such. It’s meant to compete with hobbyist watches from companies like Garmin, but do it all in one watch as opposed to several in Garmin’s case. You also chose the Hermes version which is not fair when you could have also chosen the Hermes option for the standard watch. You added like $350USD to the cost only for the sake of giving a more “extreme” example. An extra $400 for the Ultra is not cheap and not everyone needs it, but to the person that does need an extremely robust watch, it’s shockingly competitive. Context is everything.

What about how much stonger it is and how more water proof it is and how it’s made for extreme activities and how it’s battery life makes it so if you get lost you will have battery left to find your way back or the more accurate sensors in it and the fact that it’s 20x more durable

Maybe you should have compared the Hermes Ultra 2 to the regular Ultra 2. You didn’t mention the (software only) exclusive Hermes watch faces either.

For me it’s less about “getting the new thing” and more about “getting rid of something ugly and damaged” just got a new Apple Watch and the new iPhone but it’s cuz I didn’t like the old watch I had so I never wore it, and my old iPhone 12 Pro was scratched and gross, wouldn’t charge right, and 70% battery health. Just get an upgrade when you feel you need one and stop letting tech bloggers make you feel bad about yourself…

I own both the Apple Watch Ultra 1 and 2, but I also have a Hermès Series 9 Apple Watch. Hermès doesn’t cater to people like you who prioritize price over fashion. However, I must say that the elegant Hermès watch band on your Ultra is worth more money than the other watch you brought to play with.
