I'm going to guess why Fourier series is correct before watching the video, I think it's because we take infinite many waves and creating the Fourier, so even the edges align with the original graph. Let's see.

Edit:- So, I was wrong on that, increasing the number doesn't affect the edges, so it won't align with the graph. But this video beautifully showed how Fourier is all about area, and how increasing the waves decreases the error.

...just under 10%. Also: since Fourier was a physicist discontinuous functions weren't really that much of a problem. Nice video
